Description

50 years ago the crew of Apollo 8 took the world's first selfie!

That photo was a shot that became known as "earthrise" - the first time we'd seen the world from beyond the horizon of the moon.

But man's mission to the heavens was put in perspective by Col. James Irwin, the 8th man on the moon. He said "God walking on the earth is more important than man walking on the moon."

God's mission to the earth was the truly costly one. Yet God thought it was worth it. This Christmas, marvel at the peace-making mission that puts our quest for the stars into perspective.

Possible Discussion Questions

  • What do you find most amazing about the Apollo missions?
