Join Sammy on a mission to uncover a secret Easter message. This year, we’ve taken the traditional egg hunt and added a digital twist. Using a smartphone, children can “crack the case” by finding hidden letters through immersive Augmented Reality (AR) videos. It’s the perfect activity for churches, schools, and families looking for a fun, engaging way to explore the heart of the Easter story.
If you would like to place your Easter Egg Hunt Trail outside then you can laminate the cards, which doesn’t affect the QR code or augmented reality video.
They can also be placed in a window behind glass and still work.

How does the Easter Egg Hunt Trail work?
- Find the Eggs: Children find the five colourful Easter Egg trail cards around your venue.
- Scan & Watch: Use a phone to scan the QR code to launch the experience.
- Reveal the Hidden Letters: Point the camera at the question mark on eggs 1 through 4 to trigger a hidden video where Sammy reveals a secret letter.
- Crack the Code: Children record each letter on their Code Cracker Worksheet and then unscramble the letters.
- Watch the Story: On the final Gold Egg, watch a 2-3 minute animation and discover the full Easter message.
Ideas for your Easter Egg Hunt
Make your trail even more engaging with these practical tips for setting up and running your event:
- Create “Real” Eggs: For a more authentic look, cut the A4 trail cards into an egg shape before hiding them.
- Small Treats at Each Stop: Place a bowl of small chocolate eggs or stickers near each trail card; when children find the egg and watch the video, they can claim a small reward.
- Weatherproof Your Trail: If you are hosting your hunt outdoors, laminating the trail cards will protect them from damp grass or light rain.
- Guide the Way: The first egg children need to find is the Green Egg with zig-zags. You can use arrows or “Sammy” footprints to help younger children navigate between the different colours.
