Promoting your Christmas Services

Christmas is a key time in the church calendar. It’s also the season when many newcomers, who aren’t part of your regular congregation, visit. It’s so important to make the most of these opportunities and ensure you’re reaching the most people possible.

With just a few changes to how you promote your Christmas services this year, you could significantly increase the number of people you reach. Here are a few handy tips:

1. Keep it consistent

All of your Christmas promotional content should be cohesive across all the different platforms that you’re posting on. When advertising a service or series of events, this is particularly crucial. Consistent design will reinforce your event to those who see your posts, help them remember the details, and encourage them to attend!

2. Don't underestimate the power of PRINT

Digital and online advertisements through social media platforms and YouTube is undeniably effective. However, there is still lots to be said for print advertising, which can be as simple as displaying posters outside your church and around your community.

Most newsagents and libraries would be happy to display posters for local events, which is a great way to reach people who may not come across your church’s social media.

Consider creating flyers to hand out in you local area or at the school gates by willing parents, especially now people are starting to feel more relaxed about being given things in person again.

Being able to physically hold a flyer or stick it on a fridge helps people remember your event. Some might even find a physical advert refreshing, now that we’re all so used to online ads!

3. Use videos to advertise and promote

Why not mix your usual Christmas publicity up and use videos to advertise your church’s events? Here are some ways you can do that:

  • Experiment with Instagram stories to engage your followers or try a Facebook video post instead of a static image or text
  • If you verbally deliver your church’s notices on a Sunday, adding a short video into the mix breaks up a familiar list of events and helps people take note!
  • Maybe you’re ahead of the curve and your church already does video notices? In that case, a short video event trailer would fit in nicely.

Our Christmas promotional bundles provides a range of templates for your church to use, making it easy to keep your service consistently themed. To make it even easier, you can create unlimited social media graphics, videos, flyers and banners!

Why not include a pre-service countdown video or introduction video to the Christmas service you’re advertising? But the best part about these resources is the time they save! Create a template, and in less than 5 minutes you’ll have a cohesive, organised and well-designed Christmas service.

We hope that you find these promotional tips useful! However you decide to promote your church services this year, we hope that you’re able to reach many people, and enjoy celebrating Christmas with Jesus at the centre. Merry Christmas!
