Description

'What is love?' is one of the most frequently asked questions on Google.

Here, this video employs a little bit of iPad magic to suggest some familiar answers to this much-posed question, before turning to the Bible to see what God has to say. Chocolates on Valentine's Day? A romantic get-away? An engagement ring?

All of these things reveal something about love but in 1 John 3:16 we find a more substantial and challenging answer to our question. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ's sacrifice on Good Friday is the ultimate example of love. What do you make of that?

Possible Discussion Questions

  • What kinds of things do you think of when you try to define love?
  • How does 1 John 3:16 explain God's love? How does this impact our understanding of what it means to love?
